The information in this article applies to:

  • == Microsoft PowerPoint for the Macintosh, versions 3.0, 3.0a, 3.0b, 4.0 ==

SYMPTOMS

After you scale a QuickTime movie in PowerPoint, it may not play correctly. It may appear jumpy, it may miss frames, or it may play slowly.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of a loss of the original aspect ratio.

RESOLUTION

PowerPoint 4.0

After you import a QuickTime movie, a dialog box will appear asking you whether you’d like it scaled to the current screen dimensions or standard 640 x 480 resolution. If you change this setting, the QuickTime movie becomes choppy. To correct this problem:

  1. On the Draw menu, click Scale.
  2. Make sure Relative To Original Picture Size is selected.
  3. Enter the size desired in the Scale To field and choose OK.

PowerPoint 3.0, 3.0a, and 3.0b for the Macintosh

To retain the appropriate aspect ratio, resize the movie relative to its original picture size:

  1. From the Object menu, choose Scale.
  2. Make sure Relative To Original Picture Size is selected.
  3. Enter the size desired in the Scale To field and choose OK.
