ERR: Application "FOXBASE" Can Not Be Found
Last reviewed: October 28, 1994
Article ID: Q100556
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft FoxBASE+ for the Macintosh, versions 2.0 and 2.01
SYMPTOMS
Double-clicking a FoxBASE+/Mac file in the Finder to launch a program or load a database may yield the "Application FOXBASE can not be found" error message, even though FoxBASE+/Mac is loaded on the hard disk. In System 7.0x and 7.1, the error message is "The FoxBASE document "File Name" could not be opened, because the application that created it could not be found."
CAUSE
A corrupted desktop file will cause this error.
RESOLUTION
To rebuild the desktop file, hold down the OPTION and COMMAND keys while restarting the Macintosh. When the alert box that says "Are you sure you want to rebuild the desktop file on the disk "Hard Disk Name"? Comments will be lost." appears, click OK. After the desktop has been rebuilt, FoxBASE+/Mac should load when you double-click one of its files in the Finder.
In rare cases, the desktop file is so corrupted that rebuilding it does not correct the loading problem. In this case, reinstall FoxBASE+/Mac on the hard disk and then rebuild the desktop file.
