PRB: Unrecognized Phrase/Keyword in Command w/ @...GET PICTURE

ID: Q100447

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FoxPro for Windows, versions 2.5 and 2.5a
  • Microsoft FoxPro for MS-DOS, versions 2.0, 2.5, and 2.5a

If the PICTURE clause for a set of radio buttons exceeds the 254-character limit, the error message "Unrecognized Keyword/Phrase in Command" is returned.

Because the PICTURE clause for a radio button is a string, it must follow the rules that govern all other strings within the FoxPro environment. One of these rules is that strings cannot exceed 254 characters in length.

This error message may cause confusion because the string itself may be valid as far as the syntax for radio buttons is concerned. The code below will demonstrate this error. It tries to display a set of push buttons with the numbers 1 through 31 spelled out.

   STORE 1 TO mchoice
   @ 5,5 GET mchoice PICTURE '@*R one;two;three;...;thirty;thirty one'

The PICTURE clause of the @..GET command for radio buttons is used to specify the prompts for the radio buttons. This clause contains a string that corresponds to the prompts for the radio buttons.
