Post by LonghornFan6565 »

When installing 3683 to my laptop, i got 0x07E bugcheck even with all SATA/AHCI drivers intergrated and it doesnt wanna boot, drivers are from XP, should work okay.
My laptop is Lenovo IdeaPad Z570
I picked right driver from XP, and it keeps bugchecking for no reason. Any help??

Your laptop? Is it a laptop for daily use?If so,I suggest you stop it.
You can use VMware. It is completely free now, and you can avoid these troubles in this way.

I got alot of success with XP/2003 on my laptop, now i wanna try to install Longhorn.
But still thanks, my processor doesnt even support virtualization, so i mostly use PCEm or Bochs for this job.

Oh, that’s too bad. If you cannot use Vmware, then I can’t offer any help. I haven’t tried installing these builds on real hardware yet, since I don’t have proper devices.

Good luck! And be careful with your data, these builds can crash at any time!

Thanks alot. My hardware mostly supports Longhorn/XP/2003 without any issues. I dont have important information on my hardware, so it should be OK.

He is doing it on real hardware, not VMware

I don't like Windows 10/11. I like (best to 4th best): 7, 8.1, Vista, and XP.

I found my controller driver dating back to 2004. It supports W2K, and XP. and 2003.
I will try to use one from W2K or 2003 to see what will happen here.

So, now i have a change to install Whistler or even 2000 betas. Such an treasure for me. Hope it atleast supports my hardware.
If that wont work, good option that there are ICH9/ICH10 drivers.
