File copying error on Windows 98 build 1611

Post by PCMaster »

So I was installing Windows 98 build 1611, but at 64% it gives a file missing dialog (I used CAB files 59 to 72 from both 1602 and 1614, it didn't work)! I will upload screenshot (or screenshots) tomorrow!
But anyways what I need to do or it is needs to be working like that?

Here's the list of missing files (but at "olepro32.dll", a Skip File button is grayed out):

No, these files are in R:\WIN98, but for some reason they missed! I just copied these CAB files from 59 to 72 from both 1602 and 1614 and it didn't worked out! Can someone give a working ISO of this build?

This build is missing 14 CAB files, ranging from WIN98_59.CAB to WIN98_72.CAB inclusive. Copy the files that are missing to the other ISO and proceed with the installation.

Interesting, and what do you mean by "to the other ISO"?

Create a blank ISO image in any ISO image creation program. Copy into it all the missing files that the installer asks for from build 1614. When the installer asks for a missing file, mount your created ISO and copy the file. Then mount the 1611 image. Repeat these steps until the installation is complete. I tried simply replacing the CAB archives in the original image, but this did not work. The installer was able to recognize only one CAB archive.

OK, so I guess I need to unzip CAB files or copy them?

Yes, copy not the CAB archive itself, but only the required file.

Thanks for help, problem solved (some of the files are missed, but it doesn't matter)!
Also I discovered a quirk when a install process finished at 96%, very interesting!
