Hi,
I recently got my hands on the missing Win NT Workstation 3.5 Beta 2 CD, that was missing from the internet.
I'd like to upload it to BetaArchive but using my "current" username I had for 10 years, "KodWhat" and not the previous one I used here when registering a long long time ago, that I'd like to see disappear.
What are the rules about that? Is it possible to change the username of my account? Can I upload on the FTP using my new name as the folder name or must I use this old username/create a new account?
Thanks
Submit a build with a different username

Re: Submit a build with a different username
We only rename usernames if there's a valid reason to (i.e too personal, too associated with a real name etc), we don't do vanity renames. All uploads are associated with the uploader unless you do an anonymous upload, then it will be tagged as anonymous. You can also upload it in someone elses username if you wish, then it will be tagged to that username instead.
We won't tag the upload with a username that doesn't exist.

Re: Submit a build with a different username
So, the solution is to recreate a whole new account just to have a different username then?
Re: Submit a build with a different username
If the name is that important to you, then yes. Note that you will need to re-apply for archive access with the new account too, it will not be carried over. And it is against the rules to have two accounts, so the old one will be deactivatedcodelyokofan wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2023 5:07 pmSo, the solution is to recreate a whole new account just to have a different username then?
I upload stuff to archive.org from time to time. See here for everything that doesn't fit BA

Well... Not worth the hassle then... especially compared to a simple renameDarkstar wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2023 6:36 pmIf the name is that important to you, then yes.
