Windows Chicago 58s 86box: Unable to initalize heap

Post by archiveisbest »

Hello There! I'm trying to start Windows Chicago Build 58s on 86box, but it failed by saying: "KERNEL: Unable to initialize heap!" which could be a RAM issue in my 86box machine.

I would suggest lowering the RAM to 64 MB, or even to 32 MB.

After changing config.sys and lowering the RAM, it got bricked.

reformat and resetup it, and you may copy/compress harddisk image after completed installation as a backup.

More like 16MB. Remember Chicaco was targeting machines that probably only had 4 or 8. Chicago 58s was compiled in 1993, only machines with 64 or 32MB of ram would have been high-powered workstations or servers.
Long days, and pleasant nights.
