shame to see this. not a single build of windows 2.x has leaked, and yet we can all know for sure the buyer's never uploading that...
I collect old laptops and mess with old software.

My chosen virtual machine programs:
Win 9x+, Intel macOS: VMware
9x as well (and earlier): 86box
PPC Mac OS: QEMU

Current Projects: Installing every beta build of Windows Me in VMware and recovering from data loss. (viewtopic.php?p=468094#p468094)
Past Projects: Installing every beta build of Windows XP, Longhorn, Vista, and Windows 7 in VMware (https://www.betaarchive.com/wiki/index. ... nonymous74)

I'm honestly thinking we'll never get a build of Windows 2.x. Windows 1 is the first version of Windows, which inclines people to upload these versions, and Windows 3 was the first popular version, so those get uploaded because more builds of them exist.

But Windows 2.x was not very important to most people. It introduced overlapping windows, 386 support, VGA support, but what else? Most copies of the builds were probably destroyed long ago or overwritten with other crap. It's been 36 years, why should it happen now?

Yeah I'd sadly bet a 99% chance they keep it to themselves.

Just wish it wasn’t seen this way. It’s the only major version of windows that’s never seen a leaked beta. At this point I’d say that fact alone makes it absolutely worth it for someone to upload it, but “hey then it wouldn’t be worth anything anymore” so it’s probably not going to happen. Situations like this make the data preservationist part of my heart for a little. Like is the $500 or even $1000 that someones aging, decaying floppy media is worth really worth enough to not preserve those precious ones and zeros for future generations? I could never see myself doing something like that.

The bid was high to Term24 to get it. Term24 bid $1,400 dollars then unknown bidder bid $1,4750 dollars. Forgot to put Microsoft Excel Version M Beta 1 released on July 14 1987, and Microsoft Windows/386 Version 2.00 released on Sept 8, 1987.

Yeah, a 2.x beta would be neat, just out of curiosity, but oh well... I think there's a non-zero chance it'll pop up dumped

Mind you I heard the same things about Windows Premiere Edition... and see what happened with that.

Just be patient...
