How do I upgrade from 4083 x64 to 5112 x64?

Post by AccSwtch50 »

Hi, everyone.

I know this is yet another weird request, but how do upgrade from Windows Longhorn build 4083(x64) to Windows Vista build 5112(x64)? I tried using application verifier, the installer doesn't work, so I installed it manually. When I tried it, the installer failed with the error code of 0xc0000135. I tried doing it without appverif. I used WinExplorer because ShowHideControls just crashed with "Runtime error 216 at 002DDA8F". When the installer tried to proceed beyond the License Key input, it crashed, no outputs, it just crashed. When I decided to look into its error code logs at "C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setuperr.log" It had shown errors like:
Error [0x0601a6] IBS Module C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\diagnostic.dll does not exist. GLE = 2 [gle=0x00000002]
Error [0x0601a6] IBS Module C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\testplugin.dll does not exist. GLE = 2 [gle=0x00000002]
Error [0x0601a6] IBS Module C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\upgloader.dll does not exist. GLE = 2 [gle=0x00000002]
FatalError [0x090001] PANTHR Unhandled exception (code 0xC0000005: ACCESS_VIOLATION) occured at 0x00000000022E0232 in C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\WDSCORE.dll. Minidump attached (42617 bytes).
Can anyone help me?

This build is a non-componentized build. You cannot upgrade from a non-componentized to a componentized build.
Nerdiest nerd in the universe.

Emulators and Hypervisors I use
86Box for early versions of Windows, Intel Apple Rhapsody, OS/2 pre-3.0, DOS, etc.
VMware Workstation for later versions of Windows (sometimes early versions), Intel macOS, OS/2 post-3.0, etc.
Mini vMac for System Software pre-7.x
Basilisk II for Mac OS 7.x-8.1
SheepShaver for Mac OS 7.x-9
QEMU for later PPC Mac OS, Windows RT, etc.

But 4083 is a componentized build. Also, I'm pretty sure my method works with Windows Longhorn Build 4074 x64.

Turns out the files listed on the error (The first three) were truncated. When they're not (I put a LFN filename on the ISO), it worked just fine, until i got to the second stage of setup, where an error occurred while preparing the install drive. Another error appears after that saying TAPI32.dll is not found.

This is basically impossible! Even if somehow it is possible to deceive the system, forcing it to consider this Longhorn assembly incompetent, then assembly 5112 requires assembly AT LEAST 5099.
