XP MCE 2005's Media Center driver/video error.

Post by Vista2007 »

When I start Windows Media Center on Windows XP MCE 2005 I recieve an error saying Your video card or driver is not compatible with Media Center, I click on OK and Media Center starts without animations.
I don't know why this is happening because other XP MCE's Media Center start without errors.I am using VmWare Workstation 17.0.

I assume that you've installed vmware tools? I've gotten this error before, probably due to an actual incompatible video card.
I collect old laptops and mess with old software.

It is possible that VMware's universal driver does not support this version of Windows. You can search for a driver on the Internet, install it, and see if the original problem is solved

You can try an older version of the VM

Where I could find a driver compatible with VMware?

usually i'd say XP was most compatible with vmware 5.5 and 6
but if you can't find those, try with 9 or 11 (with set compatibility to 5 or 6)
those "can be found"

Sorry, but I have a lot of virtual machines in my VMware, and VMware will not let me install another VMware, especially if it is an older version.

I will try 5.x and 6.x compatibility on VMware 17.0.

You may need an old computer to run it, as I have successfully run it on an Intel Core 2. And it has animation effects.

Yes, is probably an error of VMware tools driver. In an old machine created for XP MCE 2005 it has to work.
