About how the Longhorn installer works for Wim

While I was communicating with other people, I heard that Longhorn's installer works .dll by calling wimage through api, but I looked for several wim versions of longhorn and did not find this file .dll wimage, but I can't determine if several exes and dlls work together and then generate a temporary new module for temporary use.
