Switching Windows XP/Server 2003's billboard without 3rd-party software(s)

Post by BetaZero17 »

I've just found out that by editing the file hivesys.inf (inside the i386 folder of the Server 2003 installation disc), you can make the setup display the XP billboard (Both the blue background and the texts).

1. Find the registry below:
HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ProductOptions","ProductType"
Image
2. Change the value from "ServerNT" to "WinNT"
3. Install Windows and see the changes

Notes
1. This only changes the graphical setup portion (Installing + Finalizing), the blue screen text portion and the GUI if you run setup from a normal Windows sesson are unaffected.
2. The real OS remains unchanged. (It's still 100% server 03)

Cool, curios but can I change the colors to something else? Like maybe green or black?
