Can I upload a Fortnite version to the FTP?
Can I upload a Fortnite version to the FTP?
Can I upload a Fortnite version to the FTP? I have a couple of old builds and I would like to share them.
Re: Can I upload a Fortnite version to the FTP?
Fortnite is a freeware game and we don't carry those.

Re: Can I upload a Fortnite version to the FTP?
Fortnite was an early access title (in Alpha/Beta state) up until late 2020 If I recall correctly, so it should fall under Beta category
Re: Can I upload a Fortnite version to the FTP?
Fortnite has a paid portion of the game known as Save The World. STW is not freeware as you need to pay money to gain access to it.
Re: Can I upload a Fortnite version to the FTP?
I will have to look into it then. But you can't apply for FTP access with it either way if it's some downloaded beta.

Re: Can I upload a Fortnite version to the FTP?
What about a Alpha STW only version wich is 3rd hand (Epic - Alpha Tester - Person uploading it)?
Would this still fall under the category "some downloaded [alpha]"?

Re: Can I upload a Fortnite version to the FTP?
Well it's still a downloaded [alpha] as it's not on a physical disc or image format downloaded from their website. But send up or link to whatever you think should be archived and I'll take a look at it.
Re: Can I upload a Fortnite version to the FTP?
If everything has to be a dump from a disc or image format then why are Minecraft Dev builds on the archive? I doubt Minecraft Developer builds get sold physically.
Re: Can I upload a Fortnite version to the FTP?
Not everything has to be a dump from a disc. But to apply for FTP, you have to provide a physical disc dump. You can upload anything (well, according to the rules, of course) but it won't get you FTP if it doesn't come from physical discs
I wonder why people fail to understand this. It's very clearly stated in the rules and guidelines. Multiple times even.
I upload stuff to archive.org from time to time. See here for everything that doesn't fit BA

So then uploading the Fortnite Beta 1.0 would work, since it isn't free and was sold as a disc?
Re: Can I upload a Fortnite version to the FTP?
For FTP access yes. But then again there's so much else original out there besides Fortnite, so finding a title to get FTP access with is not difficult.

I know there is a lot of other stuff out there, but as the first public version of Fortnite I think it should be archived. I just submitted it and hope you'll accept it as a submission for FTP access.
Re: Can I upload a Fortnite version to the FTP?
If the disc is properly archived according to our archival guidelines I don't see any issues.

And when looking through the uploaded stuff, please ignore the Splatoon and Super Mario 3d world uploads, I didn't read the rules properly. Sorry.
Re: Can I upload a Fortnite version to the FTP?
Back in 2019 I was able to get FTP access with a download instead of a physical disk: viewtopic.php?t=39462
