Windows 2000 on true color on VMware

I have a question, is it possible to get true color and 1024x768 resolution on Windows 2000 on VMware? VMware Tools doesn't install.

It is possible only with VMware Tools.

Yes, if you get vmware tools to install, you can even go up to 1920x1080 with true color on vmware. I've even gotten Windows 95 running with true color @1920x1080. What error are you getting with vmware tools?

I was getting a Windows Installer error until I figured that it needed an update for VMware Tools.

I got it working, so thanks for your suggestions.

It's a lot easier to install something like VMWare Tools on Windows VMs than it is to get aero working with VirtualBox nowadays, which is why I switched about two years ago with VMWare. It's not a recent version, but it does the job, and the compatibility is great out-of-the box with stuff like this.

Oh yeah, you just need to install the display update, then run VMware tools. I can probably link it to you if you can't find it.
