[REQUEST] Windows 95 Disk 18

Post by ljcool2006 »

I've been prompted with a message saying that I need to insert disk 18. I've been looking on the Internet for downloads of disk 18 with no success.

Here is the message:

Just use the Windows 95 CD.
The CD didn't have the arp.exe. Refer to the above image.

The problem has been resolved. I installed MS-DOS 6.22 and I did "xcopy d:\win95 c:\win95 /s". Feel free to lock this thread.

You could have optionally used the Windows 95 CD to copy it into C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS and then run the installation

I think this happens because the optical drive letters are remapped after the first reboot. This is eminent when using DOS bootdisks which have fixed drive letters for CD-ROM drives set up by the drivers, so if you were using R: before, you're probably using D: or E: at the second stage. Just an FYI. Disk18 should refer to WIN95_18.CAB on the CD.

this is simply because no CD-ROM driver is installed during installation
all YouTube videos are made by kids who have never seen Windows 95 in their life ...
installing it first on the Hard Disk or MS-DOS first is the simplest but also the longest way ...
you need an OEM floppy disk to make Windows 95 bootable and that will install the CD-ROM Drivers at the end of the installation (or you can create it yourself)

This way is the only one that works for me personally.
