MS source code leak apparently contains XP
MS source code leak apparently contains XP
I found a thread on 4chan that apparently shows that the XP source code was leaked.
Not posting link to the source code or thread.
How do these leaks even happen?!

Re: M$ source code leak apparently contains XP
People finally realizing that it is abandonware (10+ years old), and finally releasing it.
Re: M$ source code leak apparently contains XP
I can confirm that it's legit. It's not just XP though. It's XP SP1, and 2003 RTM. Includes amd64 bits in some of the SP1 code, which is interesting seeing as the AMD64 port of XP was based on 2003, not XP. Will be digging in to this a bit more, as it looks like this is the complete source tree (all components) whereas other leaks were just bits and pieces. 17-18yrs go by and people start to get itchy fingers, I suppose.
There's stuff in there regarding Blackcomb, and what appears to be actual screenshots of what became of Neptune's Activity Centers (it looks a lot like win10's taskbar than anything else). Lots of hidden gems in the whole mix - a lot to unpack.

The source contains an internal theme, “Candy” I couldn’t get it to compile, but at least someone got it working. Will post a photo very soon.

Yep! I couldn't get to compile, so please DM me on Discord about it.
Thank you.
Edit: Nevermind, I got it to compile.

I think it looks really nice. Might try it out on VirtualBox.

Re: M$ source code leak apparently contains XP
Ho-ly cow! The XP source code has leaked after 19 Years.
This is terrible for Microsoft. A lot of the code in XP is used in 10. Wonder how M$ is gonna react to this. Oh and now there’s gonna be OpenXP now.

Re: M$ source code leak apparently contains XP
why would it be terrible...
it is dead outdated system
and honestly WinOCM's compile of Srv03 SP1 seems better than having XP SP1 source...

Re: M$ source code leak apparently contains XP
Even though XP IS outdated, Microsoft recycles parts of the Source of their previous Windows versions. So Windows 10 may contain some Code from Windows NT 3.1.
Re: M$ source code leak apparently contains XP
Not really. The biggest issue with their build was the lack of HAL source code. Everything relies on the included HAL's. Also, the source code for bootvid was missing, as well as smss, which they ended up replacing with tinykrnl (IIRC). It would have been a lot more interesting had WinOCM had this leak to build off of.
The biggest takeaway from this leak is that there are bits and pieces leftover from Neptune's development, as well as what appears to be several potentially working prototypes of DirectUI-based user interface apps, including a replacement Start Menu. Seriously interesting stuff hidden in there. Basically everything in 'nt\windows\advcore' is interesting and obviously not entirely from XP's development.

There are also new concept art screenshots from the activity center I guess in
./NT/windows/advcore/duser/resources/monthlyview.bmp
and
./NT/windows/advcore/duser/resources/dailyview.bmp:

Re: M$ source code leak apparently contains XP
Start Razzle, go to /NT, then run bz. It will compile the whole code which will take a long time.
These just look just like Windows 8, I love it.TinaMeineKatze wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 3:45 amThere are also new concept art screenshots from the activity center I guess in

This screenshot reminds me of Microsoft Money 2000. It had the same style.
