Hello,
I recently installed Windows 2000 with SP4, and I noticed when I click for shutdown, when it done with stopping Windows,
There is a small Window that say "It is now safe to turn off your computer"
I don't understand why I see it, because when I'm using older version of Windows like NT 4.0 or 98, it directly shutdown the computer. My processor is an AMD K6-2 300MHz
I hope someone could explain to me why this is happening and how I could remove the window and make the computer shutdown.
Thanks in advance

This is caused by power management either being disabled, or your computer not supporting it at all. It is one of the first things Windows setup checks for - if it's not present, it loads a slightly different kernel. Make sure it is enabled in the BIOS and then reinstall Windows.
Also, are you sure about Windows NT 4.0 directly shutting down? That always displayed the "safe to shutdown" prompt no matter what, as it doesn't support power management.

I made an error when I said Windows NT 4.0 can shutdown the computer by itself.
I will try to reinstall Windows 2000 and see if it work better.
Thanks for the answer

Either enable APM, or upgrade your BIOS to have a newer version of the ACPI tables with a date newer than January 1, 1999.
