Windows NT 3.1 Beta 2 Alpha CPU ISO

Post by fishbowl »

Dear all,

I have created an ISO image of NT 3.1 Beta 2 for the Alpha CPU, build 3.10.438.1.
As I am new here, could I get access to upload the image to the Database server?
I also have created a photo image of the CD itself.

Kind Regards,

Frank.

Please see viewtopic.php?f=39&t=32742, and ISOs won't be allowed for the FTP.

Even though it isn't accepted here, I would be interested, could you pass the iso?

Well, considering it's a beta it should get accepted, even though it won't bring you FTP access.

I have an AlphaStation with an NT-compatible BIOS. I know you're under the post limit, but please reach out to me via email at neko2k beige-box com if you can - very interested in getting this one up and running and at least on MEGA or something.
Goodbye.

I think this is definitely worth archiving :) It can get you FTP access if you follow the guidelines.

I've gotten the ISO dump. Unfortunately, you have to have a DEC Jensen in order to install this as there's no HAL support for anything newer, and it only supports three EISA video cards. So no luck on my end getting it going right now.
Goodbye.

This is really interesting, can't you just dump it like it is described in the guidelines? I assume you actually have this CD?

Something this rare should for sure give you access.

In a post in a different topic he said that he sold the disc.

Then while, of course, it is not me to decide that, I still think that he should be given access for providing something this rare to the collection.

That is all up to mrpijey.

I still don't get x010's post though, there are a lot of ISOs on the FTP, why wouldn't it find its way to the FTP?

Simple: because the rules say that if you dump a physical CD you have, you have to dump it as MDF/MDS.

Yes, there are ISOs on the FTP, but these are all either a) from before the rule requiring MDF/MDS was in effect, b) downloaded from Microsoft or similar (where no other format exists) or c) are the "best available dump" when no owner of an original disc is known (rare scene releases etc.)

In this case, he should have dumped it as MDF+MDS, as stated in the guide. Sure, he might still get access since it's obvious he once possessed the disc in question, but as it has been said, it's all up to mrpijey to decide that.
I upload stuff to archive.org from time to time. See here for everything that doesn't fit BA

I can convert the ISO to MDF+MDS if needed.

Why not just share the ISO? It is a beta so (hopefully) it will get added to the FTP as the guidelines stated ISOs are fine for betas. ISOs converted to MDF/MDS does not make a difference so probably not the best option.

You mentioned in another thread that the cd has the C-compiler, does it also contain the supporting header files & library files?
