What's the most current browser you can run on Windows XP SP3?
Obviously, using Windows XP in this day and age for anything requiring any real level of security is a bad idea, but that said, what's the most current browser that can run on it? Last I checked, it was some fork of Basilisk or Pale Moon, both of which are forks derived from older versions of Firefox on the Gecko engine. I still like messing with XP every once in a while, and I like how snappy it feels on hardware that is much more powerful than what it was originally intended to be run on.
Also, is there anything for XP that performs a similar function to what KernelEx does on Win9x? It'd be really cool to see XP run software that would normally only work on Vista/7 or higher. Could even be useful for running modern browsers, who knows.

Probably Opera. It runs really well.

New Moon is the newest that I know of. Opera is very old, being based on Chromium 49 for XP at most.

I am using Firefox as the default browser on Windows XP SP3.
Re: What's the most current browser you can run on Windows XP SP3?
Recompiling latest Chromium might help, though the last version that supports Windows XP officialy is Chrome 49.
But you can use Firefox instead. For CPUs with SSE2 capability (Pentium 4 / Athlon 64 onwards) 52.9.0 ESR is the latest version, and for those without SSE2 (like Athlon XP) 45.9.0 ESR is the way to go, though the performance will be very poor. Both versions are newer than Chrome 49.
However, root certificate and TLS protocol version are no longer updated for Windows XP. Eventually Windows XP will be completely disconnected from the SSL-encrypted Internet.

Opera is the most updated I could find and run on XP (I don't remember what version).
Opera Mini Java version is another option, just as UC Browser (didn't try it, no longer have my old XP laptop), but I understand the latest goes around 2017.

yes. Opera final for XP/Vista version 36.0.2130.80 was the updated one AFAIK. and actually there is no desktop version of Opera Mini Java since it's only for mobile stuff.exploradorgt wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 4:42 amOpera is the most updated I could find and run on XP (I don't remember what version).

Re: What's the most current browser you can run on Windows XP SP3?
I have recently discovered a page full of download links for various updated browsers for Windows XP SP2+, both well-known and lesser-known. On this page I could see famous Serpent 52@ RoyTam1's own fork, New Monn 28, a lesser knwon SeaMonkey Browser fork called "Browser Navigator", which is basically a fork of the Browser component of the SeaMonkey suite, a rebranded SeaMonkey full suite, IceApe, which was probably inspired from the Debian IceApe suite, Serpent Moebius 55, and the well-known K-Meleon Goanna 76 builds. The best browser was the SeaMonkey Navigator browser, it could even load WhatsApp on Windows XP! I think it's based upon SeaMonkey 2.53.10 code base. You can also try Mypal Quantum 68.12.3b, it's based upon Firefox 68.12esr, it even has the proton theme, or Firefox 52.9.1esr or ArcticFox 27, or rebranded Firefox, Iceweasel 53.2.0 (Chinese, PRC only), version which I posted on archive.org, too. I will post download links hereVictorMX2307 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 7:49 pmHmm... Is there any "unknown" browsers? I would try it out on xp.
-RT Free Soft : http://rtfreesoft.blogspot.com/ (find all links for Serpent 52, Serpent 55, New Moon, SeaMonkey Navigator, IceApe, K-Meleon)
-Mypal: https://www.mypal-browser.org/download.html (for downloading Firefox Quantum based version, or the old Pale Moon version)
-Iceweasel: https://archive.org/details/iceweasel-v ... 14-pgo.-7z (I am DCI Endeavour Morse on archive.org)
Arctic Fox: https://retrosystemsrevival.blogspot.co ... 27918.html
My ranking
No.1 : SeaMonkey Navigator
No.2: Serpent 52@RoyTam1's own fork
No.3: Mypal
No.4: NewMoon
No.5: Serpent 55
No.6: IceWeasel 53 and Firefox 52.9.1
No.7: IceApe
No.8: K-Meleon Goanna
No.9: ArcticFox
Interested in all kinds of old software!

Since MyPal was shut down by Palemoon, I switched over to Serpent http://rtfreesoft.blogspot.com/xyz wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 3:42 pmI use MyPal, a Firefox PaleMoon fork especially built for XPsp3

Re: What's the most current browser you can run on Windows XP SP3?
Wait seriously? Why did Pale Moon shut down the mypal project? I knew the newer version switched to being Firefox based (hasn't been updated in a while though) but did Pale Moon themselves seriously shut down the old version?
I collect old laptops and mess with old software.

Yikes! Drama indeed. A real shame that's why development stopped. One of my favorite things about old Mypal was the UI - it fit right in with XP/Vista unlike the new FF Quantum based version and other similar projects...
I think I'll be checking out that Serpent browser mentioned earlier once Mypal falls too far behind the modern web.

Feodor2 switched to mypal68 which is based on gecko68 https://github.com/Feodor2/Mypal68, 32bit only and may cause BSoD on some system configurations.anonymous74 wrote: ↑Sat May 20, 2023 6:37 pmYikes! and I don't actively advertising my browser builds, but there is a thread on MSFN for them.
Re: What's the most current browser you can run on Windows XP SP3?
Actually, the latest Firefox version that can be run on WinXP SP3 is 52.9.1 ESR...
