Windows 98SE DVD RAM Driver

Post by veso266 »

Hi there I recently bought myself one Panasonic (also known as MATSHITA) SW-9576-C

and I wanted to make it work with Windows 98SE but I would never imagine finding a driver for it would be so problematic

back in 2011 Panasocnic stil hosted drivers for it: http://web.archive.org/web/201110231310 ... rv_me.html

but nowadays they removed their drivers from their website

and internet archive didn't archive the files :(
the filename in question is: 9xDrv5021NEN.exe

it was uvailable here: http://panasonic.net/pcc/products/int_d ... 021NEN.exe
I am searching for 2 days for it and cannot find it

the worst thing is that I found all the other drivers for it that Panasonic hosted

for Vista (32 bit)

VistaDrv5301NEN.exe --- https://seunghan.tistory.com/attachment ... 5A7D7C.exe

for Windows 2000
https://download.cnet.com/dvdram-en-200 ... 70034.html

for Windows XP
https://www.driverguide.com/driver/deta ... q&frmist=1

for XP 64 and Vista64 I am still searching but I would realy like to find it for Windows 98/ME first

but for Windows 98SE/ME I cannot find it :(
so if anyone has it this file: 9xDrv5021NEN.exe
or if it has the whole driver that would be realy great

Thanks for Anwsering and Best Regards

Thanks you so much how did you find that?
It aphears they hosted that on a diferent location (its not the latest one I think but it doesn't matter)

Sad fact: after installing this driver being so exited and poping a blank DVD Ram 9.4GB catridge in the drive it didn't read it also WPFormat tool showed there is no disc in the drive

then I tried with my old 4.7GB one that had a movie on it and its the same thing

although my drive can read DVDs fine it cannot read CDs

but its wierd as CDs use diferent laser (so if that laser is broken :), I don't realy care as I didn't intend to use thid drive for CDs anyway) so why can it not read DVD RAM then? the laser should be the same as for DVDs

I found link to this page and from there just clicked to required driver
https://web.archive.org/web/20061128201 ... index.html

you can also sort-of browse archived pages like this: http://web.archive.org/web/*/panasonic. ... cs/driver/*

did you check if your drive loads dvd-ram discs in newer windows?

no, because I cannot put newer windows into that machine and the only machine that can run never Windows (7) has only SATA ports

but I tried to use one of theese: https://www.conrad.com/p/renkforce-usb- ... er-1277995

although it didn't load DVD RAM nor DVD or CD, then I put it into a computer and it at least loaded DVD

I mean I am confused on why it loads DVD fine then? DVD ROM and DVD RAM use the same laser right?

I use Internal IDE to SATA adapter similar to this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/233490971387 and it works fine. You could also try to open the drive and clean its lens, sometimes it helps.
