Windows 2000 Explorer.EXE in Windows XP x86
I want to use explorer.exe in Windows XP, in Windows 7 x64 copying shell32 and browseui is possible with Windows 2000 RTM explorer.exe, but in Windows XP is there any way to run Windows 2000 explorer.exe?
Windows 2000 is the best operating system ever maked!!!

About 10 years ago I tried to do this. Nothing worked out for me.
2000 / XP has a different set of icons and API calls.
If you really want to, you can gradually replace the resources in EXPLORER.EXE (XP) with similar ones from 2k.

For some reason about a year ago I ran it on xp x86 and it worked in safe mode. that however was on the rtm and not sp3.

That's an interesting concept. I saw a Youtube video a couple weeks ago where someone attempted something similar. Surprisingly it worked. You might wanna try looking on there. i think it was by a Youtuber named Enderman?

I don't recall Enderman making a video based on something around that concept, but I guess it's worth a try.

Fred Vorck did this with nt4 into w2k, and LitePC did this with 95a into 98.
In both cases, there's a heavily hacked shell32.dll that came with it.
I dug out FDV's version. It does not run under Vista 6.1 ("seven")
