Modifying windows Classic theme?

Post by Meow »

How to modify it? The theme is stored in win32k.sys/gdi32.dll/user32.dll (from what i have heard) so is it possible to modify? Eg. moving the close button from right to left but leaving the other buttons where they are. It would probably need hex editing.
Try switching the windows 3.0 ega driver with windows 1.01’s. it will be fun.

The classic theme is not really a theme by itself, it's really just the absence of one. To answer your question, I guess you could modify it with a hex editor, but unless you know your way around disassemblers and x86 assembly, you should just forget about it.

Like IDA pro? It was very confusing.

It always is first glance! You need to understand x86 assembly, the Win32 API and how C-code constructs map to assembly first. If you can find course materials for Windows malware analysis, that'd be a good start.

It also wouldn't hurt to know some C.
