Native structured storage(CNSS)

Post by oto »

During the beta testing phase of Windows 2000, it included a feature titled Native Structured Storage (NSS) for storage of Structured Storage documents with each Stream that makes up a document stored in a separate NTFS data stream. It included utilities that automatically split up the streams in a regular Structured Storage document into NTFS data streams and vice versa. However, the feature was withdrawn after Beta 3 due to incompatibilities with other OS components, and any NSS files automatically converted to the single data stream format
The Native Structured Storage (NSS) implementation within OLE Structured Storage has been removed from Windows 2000. For this reason, the CNSS.SYS filter has also been removed from the Windows 2000. It will not be a released feature of Windows 2000.
Which is the latest build that still includes this CNSS.SYS filter? Can it be run in XP? Also looking for beta testers manual regarding this NSS as it is not clear which utilities are needed.
