Today I decided to install Windows 8 8056 and dual boot it with my Main OS on my laptop.
But every time I boot the USB, it gives me a black screen with the BSOD text
I downloaded this iso from the FTP, and used Rufus, and changed the BIOS date to July 27th 2011 and every time I try to install I get that screen. What should I do now?
Unable to install Windows 8 8056 on real hardware
Re: Unable to install Windows 8 8056 on real hardware
The laptop is simply incompatible. ACPI_BIOS_ERROR (Bug check 0x000000a5) indicates there's an incompatibility with the system bios and Windows itself. Since 8056 is a pre-release build, I'd imagine your laptop is too new for Windows builds of this era, especially considering builds from this time often aren't tested on as many hardware configurations as things like beta and release candidate builds are.

Re: Unable to install Windows 8 8056 on real hardware
Ah, how unfortunate! I thought it would work since I was able to install Windows 7 on the laptop despite the laptop being made sometime in 2017 while Windows 7 was released in like 2009. I guess since Windows 8 8056 is a pre-release build, there might be problems like this.AS95678 wrote:The laptop is simply incompatible. If only I knew where my core 2 duo Vista/XP era laptop was then I could try this beta build with real hardware

You could fix the issue if your BIOS support ATA mode. AHCI doesn't work in pre-Windows 8 builds.

Re: Unable to install Windows 8 8056 on real hardware
The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 15 Gaming 7567 with an Intel Core i5-7300HQ 2.50GHz 8 GB of ram, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. I have already given up trying to dual boot Windows 8 8056 on it as the laptop only has either AHCI or RAID, no ATA (IDE). Instead, I'm planning to use my HP Pavilion TouchSmart 20-f394 all in one PC, as it originally came with Windows 8 and has ATA (IDE) option in the BIOS.

Doesn't seem so simple.gtgamer468 wrote:You could fix the issue if your BIOS support ATA mode. AHCI doesn't work in pre-Windows 8 builds.

The laptop you tried to install this on is simply too new.
Additionally, people in this thread are somehow managing to confuse AHCI and ACPI. You can't touch anything about ACPI, it's power management related stuff.
AHCI vs. IDE does not matter whatsoever for 8056, AHCI has been supported since Vista. Please put at least some effort into replying.
