Contribution Question
Contribution Question
Hey guys,
I want to join the FTP Club, since I have access to a few things most people don't.
However from my Understanding, Beta Software / Early Clients are nothing you need / want to Archive?
While you guys not accept APKs etc. I have a very old Version of PUBG Mobile with GM Mode / Developer Build.
Also I own some copy of early Builds of Ubisoft Games and or / Epic Games, most with Dev Tools/GM Tools.
So I am curious, if any of that count as Contribution or if you just looking for some very very old Software

Re: Contribution Question
Hello!
We do indeed want betas and early software, that's half of what we archive. But reading from your post you mention Android stuff, those we don't archive. There's far too much junk there and little of value. As for Ubisoft and Epic Games software those should be welcome. Naturally it's always a case per case situation so offer whatever you want to contribute and we'll let you know if it's good. Make use of our database as well to check if we already have a title.

Seriously? Did you not notice that the website is called BETAarchive...?Enaske wrote:However from my Understanding, Beta Software / Early Clients are nothing you need / want to Archive?
I upload stuff to archive.org from time to time. See here for everything that doesn't fit BA
Re: Contribution Question
The reason I asked that was the following:Darkstar wrote:Seriously? Did you not notice that the website is called BETAarchive...?Enaske wrote:However from my Understanding, Beta Software / Early Clients are nothing you need / want to Archive?
"Although we accept beta software on our FTP it's not acceptable as a FTP contribution title, for this only a copy of a retail title is acceptable."
I already uploaded something and see how it goes from there, since I have quite a bit in Pipeline
Re: Contribution Question
Yes, as a_FTP contribution_ title. Which means that you can't apply for FTP access with a beta (unless it's an original beta you dumped from a physical media), but we do otherwise accept betas to our archives.
Re: Contribution Question
Oh, ok. Sadly I don't have any physical Media Betas. I just thrown up a Beta for a Retail game, which launched like 2 days ago or so. Since I have access to a lot of Clients, people usually don't have.
Re: Contribution Question
Well as I said, you don't need a physical beta to get access, but you need a physical copy of something, regardless of age, to apply.
Re: Contribution Question
I have EVOLVE as Retail Disk here and Dumped all 4 DVDs.
I can bundle it with Disc Scans.
That should be acceptable correct?

Re: Contribution Question
Well, the game was released on 2015(correct me if I am wrong), so it will be accepted but it won't be open to the public until 2025 and you won't get FTP access.

Re: Contribution Question
Oh, ok. So only stuff that has been 10+ years old? A shame. Wasted my whole day scanning the Artbook *g*Winins wrote:Well, the game was released on 2015(correct me if I am wrong), so it will be accepted but it won't be open to the public until 2025 and you won't get FTP access.
Sadly, the only other I have is the Disk Cover from Age of Conan, sadly it seems I lost the disk at some point =(
Edit: So since it has to be 10 Years, Starcraft 2 Wings of Liberty Disk Edition should be fine? (only Betas and Press Content exist in the Database)

Re: Contribution Question
Would Starcraft 2 DVD Acceptable for you, even if the Time runs out in July? (25. July 2020) or I have to really wait til July then?mrpijey wrote:Hello!
Snip.
Re: Contribution Question
While we won't publish games that are newer than 10 years old we still accept them, so Evolve will be just fine, same goes for Starcraft 2.

Re: Contribution Question
Can I upload a beta without scans if that beta doesn't come in packaging, discs, etc. ?
Re: Contribution Question
Yes, but not for FTP access.

Can I upload Windows 10 Insider Enterprise to apply for FTP (I'm a new user right now)?

I am afraid not.

Re: Contribution Question
In some cases, software may not come in CDs (ex. Windows 10 comes with an USB instead of a CD). What should I do if I want to upload it?
Re: Contribution Question
You dump the USB stick with Win32DiskImager and make sure high res scans of the USB stick are included.
Re: Contribution Question
Something like dd will also do the same thing if you aren't using Windows.
Windows Defender for great justice! Bugs are an international trading company. I need to defeat the anti-debugging and obfuscation methods. It wasn't for Intel's absurd ability to load in ie6. Why even waste time with people in an envelope?

Re: Contribution Question
Why not write protect the USB and use a hex editor?
Re: Contribution Question
Why would you use a hex editor to dump a USB stick? The application I and Wheatley mentioned are perfectly fine to do a raw dump of a USB stick.
