Could there be a Windows 1.0 DR6

Post by johnlemon647 »

There is Build very similar to Windows 1.0 DR5 was posted on the BetaArchive Discord server. There could be another beta build between Windows 1.0 DR5 and Alpha. This Build have MS-DOS Support while Windows 1.0 DR5 did not have MS-DOS Support. This Beta Build do have PIF Edit was shown in Windows 1.0 Alpha. This Beta Build file not seen in Windows 1.0 DR5 like PIF Files PIF.EXE, PIF.RES also there was MS-DOS Support Files DOSAPP.BIN and DOSAPP.EXE could been an early version of WINOLDAP.MOD. Windows 1.0 DR5 QANDA.DOC did not say there was another DR Build After DR5 only thing it said there was January release is mentioned several times: "By our January release, our goal is to..." and "In our January release, there will be..." Alpha was release in January.

Is that picture even real? Even if that picture is real, it wouldn't be distributed so there is definitely no DR6. What developers got was DR1, DR2, DR3, DR4, DR5, Alpha Release, Beta Release and likely Premiere Edition.

Documentation in DR5 refers to a next release in January, which is when Alpha was released, therefore a DR6 is very unlikely.

It was posted on BA discord by a random person who never replied again. So there's that.

It's probably an earlier compile of Alpha.

@johnlemon647 : We see on the image PIF.EXE (and some other system file) come from a floppy disk...
