Forum rules

Please read the following rules before posting a download request in this area:

1. Don't post a request if you have under 10 posts as stated on the front page. If you do anyway, it will be deleted without further notice. This also applies to other members: If you see a request by someone with less than 10 posts and it hasn't been deleted yet, please don't reply to it.
2. Don't request for warez or any copyrighted software. Only betas (no matter how old or new) and finals of operating systems and applications that are at least 10 years old and therefore classified as abandonware are allowed to be uploaded to and shared on the BetaArchive FTP server.
3. If you have your own FTP server where you'd like other members to upload what you're looking for to, please don't post its login details in any open forum as that will probably lead to abuse. Post the login details in the Private Servers section instead.
4. Check that we don't already have the file on our FTP servers. If you don't have access to the FTP servers then ask someone who has (a moderator for example).

Hi

I have the floppies and the full binder with all the manuals for MacX 1.2, and X Window System display server developed by Apple for the Macintosh.
The binder contains documentation for version 1.1.7 and 1.2, but I think the floppies are just for 1.2 (they included the notes for 1.1.7 just because it was a "major" release).
It also contains MacTCP and MacTCP connection module for MacX.

I scanned all the manuals and imaged the disks with Disk Copy 6, 5 of the 7 disks are in 800K format.

File has been uploaded to the FTP server.

A couple of notes:
The filename has been shortened to Apple_MacX_12.zip, I kept getting errors when using the complete filename. The folder inside the .zip is named properly.
The scanner I used for the floppy labels and binder cover has a black background, since the floppies are white, should make the cropping easier. Both binder and disks were very dirty, I lightly cleaned them with a dry rag to prevent stains. The scanner bed is too small for the binder cover, but the MacX label is not cropped, the rest of the binder is a standard Apple binder that was also used on other products (such as A/UX).

Thank you, but can we have the floppies scanned with a white background? There's a reason why the guide mentions a white background... :). And please save it (unedited) in a lossless format, your previously uploaded TIFFs used lossy compression.

Sure, I'll try with a white sheet over it. I can do it for the disks, but for the binder (as it's too tall), the scanner will still make the background black.
As for the format, I'm not sure I can change that, I'm currently using my company's Xerox machine and some of the functions are locked out (we can only save on USB). I'll try with an older scanner I have at home.
