Re: Office 2003 RTM inside Win98
Did you actually install it or just copied files from a previous install(like I did to get a 2003 rc on winme)?

I've installed it (by means of executing .msi, because setup.exe did not launch)ovctvct wrote:Did you actually install it or just copied files from a previous install(like I did to get a 2003 rc on winme)?
Re: Office 2003 RTM inside Win98
Most office releases just drop support for some OSes even though they are fully compatible, I think you can install Office 2010 x64 on Windows XP x64 IIRC, and I've seen Office 2013 running on Windows XP.
It's just MS Policy to block Office installations on older OSes just to force users to upgrade to the targeted Windows version, just like Office 2019, which is too bad.

yep you can:

But I don't think the 2003 MSI will just work on 98 without any sort of hack or whatever.

You are right. Look at my first screenshot (text is in Russian, but you'll understand the meaning of these steps)ovctvct wrote:yep you can:

@User5274, out of curiosity: are you still using Windows 98 in production?
