Doors! - Did anyone use this?

Post by RetroBunny »

I have recently re-discovered my old MSDOS games and apps collection and so I have stumbled over an old Windows 3.1 desktop shell called "Doors!". It's from 1993, I think, but adds a Desktop, Recycle bin, and many other features. It almost looks like an old Macintosh! :D

Has anyone else used this? I think it's awesome!

Here's a screenshot (I hope this works, since I can't use the Image Uploader yet):

No I didn't know that one. Some time in 1994 I used a similar shell replacement called Sparta. I can't find screenshots online though.

EDIT: You can find Sparta here if you want to give it a try:

Both the Sparta shell and this (Doors!) are interesting :) I may check them out.

Never heard of it, but it looks cool!

I used the IBM Workplace shell on Windows for a while. It was unnaturally weird, and I liked it.

Hello! Yes, I can remember "Doors!", and I used it for a while! It had a Mushroom-Logo in the upper-left corner of the screen. However I can't remember its functionality in detail; it was for Windows 3.1, I think. Its Developer-Company, "Data Becker", went bankrupt in 2014. So, if you want to use it, maybe an original could be found in a second-hand-onlinestore ...
