What are Milestones? (Any Windows OS)
I always wondered what they were... Do you guys know?

They are development stages between preliminary builds and betas (and in some cases pre-betas).

I might be mistaking it. I had the Longhorn Milestones in mind. I have to agree with LuLu though.

I'm new on this forum, so sorry if I'm wrong, but I think that they're versions that are developed before a first beta, similar to alphas. For example, Windows build 7989 is a Milestone 3 build of Windows 8.

Not all builds prior to Beta 1 are referred to as milestones. Some builds precede Milestone 1. There are also Pre-betas between the last Milestone and Beta 1.
