OEM specific install discs

Post by Stannieman »

Hi

I guess you are not really interested in every OEM's flavor of Windows install media, but in case you are I've got an Acer Vista RTM disc containing x86 English, German, French, Dutch and Italian languages.

Upload + scan or not?

I think it could be accepted, if it's an actual OEM disc and not just a recovery disc that will only work with one specific computer/hardware. There are several Windows OEM install discs already on the FTP, I did try installing a few on my old PC and in VMs and those seemed to work fine.

It really depends on the disk. Lots of us members would appreciate having it avaliable, whether here or on some other site. Archive.org has a pretty good collection going and is a great place to upload to!

Hmm I just installed it in a VM and I don't think it's worth putting much effort into it. It has no Acer branding and basically is stock Vista but with 5 languages on the disc instead of 1 like regular media. Anyone could reconstruct that from original MS ISOs.

Does it bundle any drivers? If so, someone might find it useful.

No, there are no drivers on it or even anything else that does not come out of an MS building.

It will still be generous if you upload that to the FTP.
