How do I get CD-ROM compatibility in DOS or make the CD bootable?

What build are you trying to install and are you trying to run this on real hardware or on an emulator/virtualizer? For most builds, just boot to a Windows 95/98 bootdisk and partition and format with FAT (not FAT32), and run setup there (it has CD drivers).

5.0.1515.1 on real hardware. I made a DOS boot disk that runs Win98 DOS.

You need a driver for your CD-ROM drive, load it in CONFIG.SYS and call MSCDEX with the device name from AUTOEXEC.BAT .
