I've ran its setup from Windows 7's PE (because the 5384 disc image isn't UEFI-bootable), and despite the fact installation can't proceed in the next phase because of an "error while editing boot entries", it actually booted! Seems a bit funny because Vista didn't officially support it until SP2
Here's Vista 5384's setup running on Windows 7 PE installing Windows without any problems
Now it successfully booted to the next phase, there's this error during the pre-OOBE phase, but it can easily be bypassed with some registry editing
And Vista Beta 2 is finally installed on a UEFI virtual machine!
Windows Vista 5384 x64 CAN boot in UEFI mode!

I tried booting the x86 PE in UEFI and it also works.

You'll need to build your own PE disk from the ISO, with the following files.
\efi\boot\boot[ia32|x64].efi (renamed from boot.wim\Windows\Boot\EFI\bootmgrfw.efi)
\efi\Microsoft\* (copied form the root of the ISO)
\boot\*
\sources\boot.wim
Only disk boot works, tried building a boot CD and it failed to boot. (Hangs just after the "Press any key to boot from CD/DVD" prompt).

Thanks for the info! I'll test it laterBetaNewbie wrote:VMware Workstation 14.mahich03 wrote: On a VM or a real computer?

You've selected "Windows Vista" (not the x64 version) as the guest OS, right?

Re: Windows Vista 5384 x64 CAN boot in UEFI mode!
5270 x86 PE also boots.
As for full installation, it could be tough. Because PE CD boot doesn't work, and Setup will fail when the PE is boot from anything else that is not a disc, and converting Windows installed on BIOS to EFI boot doesn't work.
It seems that I can get the installation going, let's see how far it can go...
Well, it errors out at last, unable to create boot entries.
And ESP:\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BCD is empty.
But after carefully recreating BCD by hand, it now boots to the second phase!
And it also fails at the same spot as 5384, and the same registry trick works.
Because it fails so early in the installation process, the system is pretty broken, but at least it works!

I can get 5219 booting in uefi mode. You need to run the setup in legacy bios and fix efi boot manually.
Setup completes without throwing out errors in second phase.
To my surprise, this build reads boot.ini even in UEFI mode//
