question about Rambus RDRAM

Post by liliwinnt6 »

if there were 4 slots of RDRAM on one certain motherboard, can we just simply 4 RDRAMs without using the terminator?
would this computer boot properly afterward?
many thanks

From what I remember, RDRAM requires every slot to be filled (doesn't matter if they all have real RAM or if they have half-RAM and half-terminators), so going by your theory of using four RIMMs in a board with four RDRAM slots, I'd say yes, it should work as long as the number of sticks you have installed match the number of slots on your board.

Continuity RIMMs (also known as terminators) are needed only if you have empty RIMM slots on your board.
