[OFFER] Caldera Open UNIX 8

Post by lardon »

Hello everyone.

I have Caldera Open UNIX 8 with additional software.
Here is a list of what I have:
Base Install CD 1 & 2
Optional Services CD
OpenLinux 3.1 RPMS
Skunkware 8
Supplementary Open Source 3.1
Open UNIX Dev Kit
Caldera Solutions Showcase

I'm not sure about the open source packages since they are linux rpms.
Is this of interest to anyone? Your thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks!

If it's original discs then it would be acceptable and added to the FTP.

They are originals. Also, is it a big deal if I don't include the boot floppies? I'm not able to make images of the floppies. All four diskettes are included in the first CD anyways.

You don't have a floppy drive? Can you at least scan the floppies?

I do have one. It's just that using WinImage gives me a read error when trying to make a proper dump. The only alternative I can think of is using the dd command in Linux. The floppies appears to be in UNIX format, as far as I'm aware.

Took a while, but I've got everything uploaded. It should be in the finished folder by now.

If you scan the floppies it will probably be enough. As you said, they are included on CD1 anyway and so there's definitely nothing on them beyond what a regular sector dump would capture anyways...
I upload stuff to archive.org from time to time. See here for everything that doesn't fit BA

I managed to successfully image the floppies using dd, and verified it in a virtual machine. So I thought I might as well include it.

Out of curiosity - did this get released on the FTP server? I can't find it under '/(Abandonware) Operating Systems/PC/Other' and I think it's a pretty unique upload (thanks lardon!), the only missing UnixWare 7.x release.

Thanks @SistemaRayoXP, it doesn't show up in search. As I mentioned before, it's not in '/(Abandonware) Operating Systems/PC/Other' where all the other UnixWare releases are, so I was kind of expecting it (but it was good to check in case it got miscategorized or something).

@lardon: Did you get the chance to upload it?

I did upload it. I was wondering the same thing. Last time I checked, it hasn't been released onto the FTP. I thought I did everything correctly. Will ask mrpijey about this. I didn't get any notification that it got rejected.

Also, it will be about a month before I get back home for break. If I need to re-upload the release I'll be more than happy to do so. But towards mid-December will be the earliest I can do this. Sorry.
