Microsoft Office 2019 running on Windows 10 Build 9888

As you know, Microsoft Office 2019 requires at least Windows 10 as the operating system and of course Microsoft blocked any operating system under Windows 10. So basically, I decided to do a fun little test to see if it works fine on the early builds of Windows 10 and sure enough, it did. Anyways...

Here's Microsoft Office 2019 running on Windows 10 Build 9888, it's the first Windows 10 build that has the version "10.0" as seen in the About Windows dialog box. Sadly, earlier builds of Windows 10 won't work because Microsoft Office 2019 will complain that you will need to upgrade to Windows 10, but on Windows 10 Build 9888, it installs fine and no problems with it at all. Surprised, that it hasn't error yet on any application I've tried out on Office 2019 and works perfectly as well. So, I guess the requirement that the Office 2019 installer checks is the version number of Windows which of course as you know the Windows 10 version number, it's "10.0" in the winver dialog, and since Windows 10 Build 9888 has version "10.0", the office 2019 installer just installs fine as usual.

Here's Microsoft Office 2019 working perfectly on Windows 10 Build 9888, no modifications done to the installer at all. It installed perfectly!

I wonder if it's possible to modify the installer to get it to work on Windows 7 and Windows 8.x.

Considering Office 2019 isn't very different at all to Office 2016 except in branding at this stage i'd say you should be able to modify it to run on Windows 7/8.x no problems. May be as simple as editing some build info in the registry.

If a version check is all it takes, try using app verifier to fake version.

Office 2019 is really similar to 2016 at this point, also 2016 ended up just like 2013 except the colors were inverted. Will Office 2019 have anything new

Office 2019 will simply have all of the latest features that Office 365 has right now.

Well, that's one way for Microsoft to try and push Windows 10 to the public, even though most people would probably switch to Windows 8.1 or the latter, but banning both Windows 7 and 8.1 from running Office 2019, in my opinion, is going too far (I use Windows 10 anyway and didn't buy Office yet). Other than that, still pretty nice! Even the change of version number for Windows 10 was reasonable.

Hello there!
I just tried to install Office 2019 on a Windows 8.1 VM and, guess what, it worked just fine!

Am I missing on something?
