Forum rules

Please read the following rules before posting a download request in this area:

1. Don't post a request if you have under 10 posts as stated on the front page. If you do anyway, it will be deleted without further notice. This also applies to other members: If you see a request by someone with less than 10 posts and it hasn't been deleted yet, please don't reply to it.
2. Don't request for warez or any copyrighted software. Only betas (no matter how old or new) and finals of operating systems and applications that are at least 10 years old and therefore classified as abandonware are allowed to be uploaded to and shared on the BetaArchive FTP server.
3. If you have your own FTP server where you'd like other members to upload what you're looking for to, please don't post its login details in any open forum as that will probably lead to abuse. Post the login details in the Private Servers section instead.
4. Check that we don't already have the file on our FTP servers. If you don't have access to the FTP servers then ask someone who has (a moderator for example).

Bonus points for anyone with NCR Unix. I actually have _the_ system it's designed to run on. I've known some people who can get their hands on obscure stuff but NCR Unix hasn't surfaced.

I have Sinix 5.42 and 5.43 for MIPS (RM200 etc.) and Sinix 1.0 and 1.2 for x86, but neither will run on a PC or any emulator I know of.

I also know I have UnixWare 2.1.2, but I can only find the boot floppy at the moment. I have images of UnixWare 2.0.1, if that's of any interest.

But if I may add one x86 unix to the wishlist:
Unisys SysV MP (x86)

I used to work somewhere where we had the giant versions of these things... 32 processors or something crazy, but SLOW AF... they were 486's or 386's. It was a bog standard SYSV, nothing too exciting except it could handle hundreds of users running thousands of Xwindows programs.

They were later replaced with 'tiny' 4xPIII machines that were insanely faster, and more responsive.

AT&T wouldn't let us have the hardware or software tho.

We could add Everex ESIX to the list

Other unusual/rare UNIXes that would be nice to find are:

Data General DG/UX
NEC EWS-UX
Solbourne OS/MP
Sony NEWS-OS
Sumitomo SEIUX

I don't have the hardware to run any of these, but they'd be nice to find from a preservation standpoint.

NEWS-OS is on the ftp. OS/MP is on bitsavers. I have DG/UX, but only for 88k.

I have a Solbourne S4000DX. I *wish* I had anything to run the others on this list (especially the Sony NWS).

And since this has turned into a general unobtanium OS wishlist, here's mine:
Solaris 2.1 x86
SunOS 4.1e (for sun4e VME boards)
HP-UX 2.x, 3.x, 6.x (and 5.x for series 200)
HP-BSD (the proprietary BSD port to HP machines)
IBM AIX for Itanium (rumour has it that this exists)
IBM AIX for S/390 / ESA
Microware OS/9 (I have bits and pieces, but nothing installable)
pSOS+
Tektronix uTek (that's AFAIK a 4.3BSD port to the NS32k. I have the machine and a hard drive image but no installation media)

I've seen it running.

PM me, I have the x86 version.

I have this one too.

The NEWS-OS iso image on the FTP is not bootable on older MIPS machines. I'm searching for a version distributed on floppy disks + installation tape.
