Windows 95 Product Team Credits

Post by ibmpcat5170 »

Where did Windows 95 store its Product Team credits?
Were they encrypted?
I inspected its Shell32.DLL file, but no luck.
My most wanted abandonwares from original media are:
  • MMPM/2 1.0 (Int'l Business Machines Corp.·1992) {Multimedia Extensions for OS/2 2.0}
  • Microsoft Video for Windows 1.1 (Microsoft Corp.·1993) {Multimedia Extensions for Windows 3.1}
  • Microsoft Windows NT 3.1 Client build 511 (Microsoft Corp.·1993) {Operating System}

Whoever has any of these, please contribute them.

It’s a Easter egg with folder renames, what are working in Memphis too. I don’t know the names for the Folder, but the final result is this: Blue Colored with some persons.

Instructions on how to activate Windows 95's credits.
http://www.eeggs.com/items/478.html

But it still does not tell what file the credits themselves are in.

The music (clouds.mid) and blue background are in shell32.dll.

In the NT4 source this easter egg can be found in /private/windows/shell/shelldll as clouds.bmp/clouds.mid/clouds.txt/clouds.cpp. So this should end up in shell32.dll, but I wouldn't be surprised if the devs used some black magic there to hide it from curious people.

Not quite.

Clouds.mid gets copied from Shell32.dll to C:\Windows\Media after you trigger it.

It looks like the credits themselves are stored in Shell32.DLL, but encrypted...
