Anyone know if there is a way you can get a hold of the original vector icons that Microsoft made for Windows XP? I'm guessing they were probably vector due to mention of .EPS as well as mention of "Freehand" and "Illustrator" in this 2001 document: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms997636.aspx.
I'd like to create some "rerenderings" of Windows XP (in classic mode) as if it had correct DPI scaling similar to that of Windows 7 and 10, and vector icons would be the most crisp way to do this.
Aside from that, it would be pretty cool to collect them in case I wanted to make an XP style theme for something.
Windows XP/2003 Era Vector Icons?

I don't think the original vectors have ever been released, so the only way to go would probably be to recreate them.

There are some Vector icons in the Welcome wizard, IIRC.

Interesting, I'll have to check that out.DBlake wrote:There are some Vector icons in the Welcome wizard, IIRC.
Thanks!

Thought I would give a followup to this, R.O.B. and rickardjackson1 from the WinClassic boards actually found a few vector icons, and a few larger raster icons from XP via the "Welcome" wizard as mentioned above - and extracted from a few Longhorn builds:
