[OFFER] Some games / software from 90s/2000s

Post by Epic1o1 »

I can only assume some of these are already on the FTP, but I'll give a list of some of my discs (I have some education CDs/DVDs that I've decided to leave out of this list, because I believe they wouldn't be good to preserve, but if you want a list of those, I can give those too)
Also leaving out some compilations/collections I have, I will upload those to Mega/etc. if any of them are wanted. I'll leave a list of those below if anyone actually wants them. (and also some boring family-tree software, etc.)
[I will be leaving out titles that are obviously on the FTP, for example Norton Antivirus 2000)
Sneak Preview of 3-D Ultra Pinball Thrillride (Hershey's/Reese's promotional CD)
Heroes of Might and Magic Compendium (2-CD set, CD says 1994-1997 so I can only assume this is from 1997)
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (1999)
1999 Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia (1998)
Cabela's 4x4 Off-Road Adventure 2 (2001)

Other Software (for upload on other sites)
Mindscape CD Deluxe Pack 6 (1995)
Crosswords & Puzzles (2001)
Create Family Trees Quick and Easy (1999)
Arcade Game Collection (No date on CD-ROM)
Solitaire Master 2 (2001)
100+ Great Games (2002)
Space Arcade Collection (2001)

Most of this seems pretty interesting! If it isn't too much trouble, it would be very nice if you could upload the stuff that isn't suitable for the FTP here to archive.org. It's a lot better to put something there than just on Mega.

Do ISPs allow that? I'm afraid of getting on some list for doing that.

It would depend on the ISP and plan, but I do think that uploading it to another website like Mega or archive.org would be a safer bet.

To stay on topic here: Yes, these titles would be interesting to archive if they are to be uploaded. Thanks.

Since my main laptop doesn't have a CD drive, and my main PC is dead (and even if it wasn't, the CD/DVD drive is currently swapped for a 3TB HDD), is it fine if I use a 2005 laptop's CD drive to image it? (I will test a CD not from either of the sets first, and if it turns out fine, I will image the CDs for the FTP and upload them one at a time.) The non-FTP CDs will probably have to wait.

Also, do I need a scan, or will just taking an image of the CD work? I can scan if needed (it's a basic home printer, somewhat new, don't know if it will hit 600DPI)

Also, I have Corel WordPerfect Suite 7 (which, with a quick Ctrl+F to the online Abandonware list, does not seem to be on the FTP!)
There's another one for the FTP :)

You can use whatever brand and model as long as the drive reads the discs without errors.

Does Alcohol 120% portable work on XP? If not, I'm gonna have to install Windows 10 or 7 on this old piece of [censored], and that won't be too good lol

Or I'll just use Linux and another tool that supports MDF/MDS

Yes it does. I actually use my '02 dell desktop since it has a 48x CD reader, instead of the 24x most drives are today.

OK, I'll get around to installing XP (Had a failed attempt at installing Win98, lol) and then getting Alcohol 120% on there.
Won't really need to install drivers (although video and audio would be nice), I'll copy the files from USB (won't install internet drivers) and upload them to the FTP!
I'll also scan afterwards, they may not be 600DPI though, is that fine?

Cabela's 4x4 Offroad Adventure is done imaging, got 1999 Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia going on right now. It'll all be done soon :D
EDIT: Everything for the FTP is almost imaged. Have the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire imaging right now, after this, all I need to do is image the Heroes of Might and Magic Compendium :D
EDIT-2: This is why we recommend MDF/MDS. Heroes of Might and Magic Compendium CD 1 has 50 TRACKS.
EDIT-3: All images are done. Will start uploading them today, scans will have to wait though. Hello, :beta: Archive FTP :D
