Combing through documentation that I have for build 122, I noticed mention of build 103. That build isn't mentioned on the BA wiki, so I thought I'd document it here (see the second image below). =) I'll eventually get around to scanning all this stuff I have.

Not bad, but 108 is in 116 and 122 mentioned.

Nice catch, though it's interesting this build is only mentioned in the printed documentation.

That's true. From build 99 I run SETUP.EXE of 122 and it just shows a simple error without any 103. Nor is it mentioned in SETUP.EXE or any of the files.

Well, in build 99 SUWIN.EXE checks for the version of USER.EXE and refuses to upgrade Windows if it's not at least 92d. Maybe 122's has 103 set.

Once I have a USB floppy reader to offload the files from these floppies, I'll extract and grep through the binaries to look for build references. I doubt what's on these floppies is different than any of the ones already on the FTP, but I'll certainly check anyway!

Speaking of that, has the community focused much on grepping through the binaries of each build, perhaps via a template in a program like PowerGREP to look for references to "build", as well as file versions, etc.? If not, I wouldn't mind spearheading such a template and writing up a guide. Just thinking aloud there, though.

Can it be possible that this is a real Chicago 122 or a hidden Chicago are coming?

Alright, after a cursory look through this build just for the keyword "build", I've seen references to builds already on the wiki, with exception to a new mention of build 91! (I'm assuming it's new as it's not in the BA wiki; not sure if it's up-to-date. I'll have to see if I can get in there and add these builds so no one's doubling up on stuff that's already been found.)

It's located in the file suwin.exe, which is inside of mini.cab.

If you open that file in a hex editor (I've uploaded it here if you want to check it out) and go to location 0x00002D7C, you'll see this line:

Quote:
Could not clean out registry for build 91

I think I'll start doing this as I progress through my collection and see what other builds might crop up. I know they're just mere mentions, but whatevs. Still fun to sift through and find. =)

I've done some basic grepping myself several times, which is how I discovered build 61 and some others.

So while this is purely FYI-type of stuff, it is actually the most authentic source a build can have - directly mentioned by Microsoft.
