Hello
It is very normal for old versions of Windows to not only let you install the incorrect driver, they will throw a BSOD once you do so.
Please take a look at this:
https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/micro ... Id=1025639
You will see that the help article refers to a driver.
These are the ones you have to download if I'm not mistaken:
http://support.creative.com/downloads/d ... loadId=257
Enter the correct number in the verification question, then click on the "AGREE" button.
When you perform the first step of the help article, which is downgrading the virtual hardware version, you'll need to install the driver which I gave you the link for.

Or instead of hackarounds you could just use a program that's better suited for this specific operating system. 86Box or PCem come to mind.

Or you could install it in VirtualBox. (disable VT-x/AMD-RV first)

Virtual PC is also very fine compatible with all Windows 95 versions.
My wanted stuff (original media):
Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2000 SP4 (aka SP1a)

It's not very compatible with Windows 10 hosts on the other side though.Nashville wrote:Virtual PC is also very fine compatible with all Windows 95 versions.

VPC will work on Windows 7 at the latest, unmodified. It will work on Windows 8.0 with a modified version.

I think there is not Windows 95 FE. Windows 98 has FE.

Re: windows 95 FE will not make any sound
The initial release of Windows 95 is meant here by FE ("first edition"). Similarly, the initial release of Windows 98 is sometimes referred to as FE.ingyu0413 wrote:I think there is not Windows 95 FE. Windows 98 has FE.
Re: windows 95 FE will not make any sound
I recently tried to get an old backed-up Windows 95 OSR 2 installation booting under emulation or virtualization (a P2V migration, but without using fancy tools). Bochs, QEMU, Virtual PC 2004 SP1 and PCem 13.1 didn't work for me, although I think in the case of Virtual PC perhaps the issue was related to qemu-img not converting the disk images properly.
I did get it working under VMware Player 6.0.7, though! Sound was a problem, but there's a solution at https://communities.vmware.com/thread/486727 involving using an older VM hardware version.
I also hit the annoying issue described in https://communities.vmware.com/thread/276874 where every 30 seconds a Command Prompt window appears (apparently started by VMware Tools), causing the screen to flicker, the Start Menu to close, sometimes causing parts of the screen to remain black and causing a fullscreen DOS prompt to un-fullscreen. I haven't fixed that yet, but I think that rather than removing c:\windows\command.com I will try to disable the service, as I don't think it's doing me any good anyway - there's no pointer integration, shared folders, or anything like that.

Windows 95 RTM was never officially called "First Edition"... let alone WinWorld being the source for that.LangsamSpieler wrote:Windows 95 FE are exist: on WinWorld you can download some.
