Microsoft. Given that the URL that the OP gave us has a 'https://' in front of it and is from microsoft.com, there can be almost no doubt that this is authentic. It's probably a (rare) typo by Microsoft.

The build includes the Windows Subsystem for Linux:


Considering that Server Core has no Store and that lxrun.exe (which is what bash.exe used to download Ubuntu before it was released in the Store) will be "deprecated at some point", I wonder how is the system administrator going to install a distribution into WSL on ServerCore and manage it. I don't think there is an AppX backend either, so downloading .appx files from Somewhere™ and installing them using PowerShell is not going to work.

Is this ISO free to use forever or is it just an evaluation? Was thinking of trying it out myself (in a VM, of course).

Well. Microsoft sometimes may make miatake. for example, a iso of the office 2007 Traditional Chinese Version, its filename contains “offf2007” lol
