[RE-UP! Ready] Microsoft Encarta Virtual Globe 1998 Edition

Post by GoCheckINC »

Re-upload of Microsoft Encarta Virtual Globe 1998 Edition.

I was asked to do a redump of this with more proper scans and a redump of the Media.

I've bought a new scanner which helps a whole lot. I've used 1200DPI + TIFF extension. It's definitely a match.
I've used DD to image the CD in IMG format. I run Debian 8. Skanlite is a great piece of software for scanning.
I also run kernel 4.9 so DD is the latest version available.

Scans : https://mega.nz/#!eRYVxRpD!UUFynGJaNsGf ... Bq0YyG9Je4

Sorry it took so long, it crashed yesterday at 77% I had to start over. Today it kept failing at 87% but it continued even though it kept failing.
Enjoy! I'm also aware that the Jewel Case is cracked but that is the original case it came in.

Cool, especially as I'm currently interested in old reference software like this. Thanks for the reup.

Except that DD is a part of GNU coreutils. I could be running coreutils 8.27 on 3.10 if I felt like it...
But nice upload, thanks :)
Windows Defender for great justice! Bugs are an international trading company. I need to defeat the anti-debugging and obfuscation methods. It wasn't for Intel's absurd ability to load in ie6. Why even waste time with people in an envelope?

I compile a million things per month, did not feel like compiling the kernel neither coreutils. :P Of course a million is an expression.

Thanks for uploading, but back cover scan is missing, front cover scans are cropped too tightly, same with the disc scans. Disc dump also lacks any subchannel data or track listing. All in all an adequate dump for the general sharing, but not for archiving.

I apologize. I thought the cropping thing which the program does by itself by detecting what is being scanned would be beneficial.
I'll start over the scans but the media itself is ok?

As mrpijey said, your media dump lacks subchannel data, as any dump made with dd. Proper dumps for optical media can only be done with Alcohol 52% or 120%. A clean portable copy is available for download in this site.
