Any photos/scans of Windows 1.0 DR5/Alpha/Beta Disks?

Post by RubyTuesday »

FTP doesn't seem to have any scans of any of these disks.

Google returns a few screenshots, but do disk scans.

Are these disks known to exist? Can anybody post photos/scans?

I got a PM response from mrpijey on the original contributions of DR5/Alpha/Beta a few years ago:
Some were given to me by an anonymous source, but I had one of them yes. Unfortunately it's lost to time as the floppies are long gone. However they didn't have any original labels, and back then the KF didn't exist either so I had no other way to dump it.
It would be nice to know what the labels/sleeves looked like. It was right around the time that MS shifted from the dark green branding to the beige jackets with blue labels.

It is unlikely that they would have had professionally pre-printed labels. However, if they were meant for any kind of distribution at all, they probably would have had a generic Microsoft branded disk label with printed, typewritten, or even hand written text.

Sort of like those "internal use only" CDs that were posted recently.

Here are a few examples:
