Windows Chicago Build 40 Problem

Before i installed Chicago 40, i have Windows 3.1 and the install of Chicago 40 was a sucess with the Other Locate to install.

I have a Problem with Chicago 40: I can't run a Application, it hang it on(not everything, network is a exception), i need the run command to get started and search the applications to get it run fron C:\Chicago\*.exe.
Can somebody say, what is the Problem??

He likely hasn't, it's probably a well known fake, and more specifically, a reshack of 56. I would encourage him to share details or the 'build' itself to verify its authenticity

It's a fake build made a long time ago that is still available online unfortunately... There is no real Chicago build 40 leaked at the moment.

This is the Build 40, what i self installed. I think it's really a fake Version.

It is. IIRC Battler found some files on his PC, submitted them to his private IRC for investigation, and someone made a frankenbuild with them.

In any case it's mostly fake with a handful of (possibly) real 40 files. Nothing new under the sun.

I think i know one characteristic of the fake Chicago: it has the Programm "Switch to Chicago" and the real builds don't have it.

There is no real Chicago 40 out there... How many times do we have to tell you this? All the copies you came across so far were encountered countless times before and they're all proven fakes. If you don't believe me, grab a copy of build 58s and do a binary comparisson of the files. You'll immediately realize 99% of the files are the same with changed version strings.

So please, for the love of god, do some investigation next time before you flood the forum with your garbage posts.

I found the real Build

I think I know what's the issue here and since I don't want you to get discouraged (you're new), I'll fill in the missing parts.

1. the comments of all other users are correct: there is no build 40 "out there". It was obviously made, it was either leaked or supplied to the testers, but nobody archived it. Parts of an already-installed copy are the only remaining trace of it

2. although your perseverance is (and will be) appreciated and I hope will develop in time, the tone of the responses you received comes from the key thing you probably don't know: Chicago 40 is kind of a "big deal". It was searched for very long and in a, let's say, sophisticated manner. It is therefore safe to assume that known accessible FTP archives (not only the one here), big uploaders (like mediafire) and all processed bootleg/scene/warez CDs and FDs do not contain a copy of Build 40.

3. The search continues all the time. There are still no results. That means that unless you have a new search method or are able to provide some media, the links you find in the internet will lead to a fake copy.

I'm sorry, I only heard about it via a repost of a repost of a repost, long ago after I gave up on 40. I should have not been so specific while not being sure.
