Windows NT3.5 - Trouble installing on VMware

Post by Kushanna »

Hi guys!

I am trying to install this OS on VMware Workstation 12 and so far nothing has worked. I have the CD but not the setup boot disks. I tried using windows nt3.51 setup disks but I get errors.

Is there anywhere that have these install disks that work with the CD?

Thanks in advance.

Cool thanks for that. Will see what I can do with it. However my aim is to get it working on VMware. I have every other version of the OS working on it. Just not this one :'(

seriously, you're expecting it to run on XP? On 7 and 8.1 it works fine for me, it's just because XP is outdated. And make sure you install the USP4 for XP just in case: http://ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10321

why not upgrade your host OS?

A fix for Pentium and newer CPUs may be needed, you can find it on TCB.

If you're writing applications targeting newer version of windows, set PE OSVer and SubSysVer properly.
otherwise you're showing you're unable to write correct code.

EDIT: And why it crash is because I'm upgrading from PCem v10.1 and I didn't put "nvr" folder back to pcem/86box folder.

I have installed Windows NT 3.51 without problems on VM12
when you create the custom configuration, in Hardware Compatibility must select "Windows 5.x"
