[OFFER] Various Windows apps and DOS games
Hello,
I have been collecting my childhood DOS games and Win 3.1/95 apps for years and only now stumbled upon this site. Currently I am looking to find all those missing Microsoft Home releses that I seem to be unable to find even on eBay for sale.
So, apologies for not being completely familiar with the site rules yet. To start off, I have physical copies of the following software on CD-ROM that I can offer to you:
Games
- Worms United and reinforcements (DOS)
- Bioforge (DOS)
- Tank Commander (Domark 1995, DOS)
- Man Enough (Tsunami Media 1994, DOS)
- Starlord (Microprose 1993, DOS)
- The Lawnmover Man (Media Safari 1993, DOS)
- Lords of Midnight (Domark 1995, DOS)
- Cyberbykes (Sofkey 1996, DOS)
- Descent to Undermountain (Interplay 1997, DOS)
- Playtoons 1 - Uncle Archibald (Sierra 1994, DOS)
- Cyberswine (Multipath movies 1997, Windows 95)
Software
- Microsoft Home - The Ultimate Frank Lloyd Wright - America's Architect
- Microsoft Home - Julia Child - Home Cooking with Master Chefs
- Microsoft Home - Isaac Asimov's The Ultimate Robot
- Microsoft Home - Art Gallery
I am pretty sure that you already have most of these in your archive. But, I hope some of these programs are unique to your collection and thus enable me to make a contribution.

Re: [OFFER] Various Windows apps and DOS games
Actually, all of these would be very interesting for our archives. They are older titles and harder to get. So if you would archive these for us it would be great!

Re: [OFFER] Various Windows apps and DOS games
I am delighted to hear that you like what I have to offer. Perhaps my collection is rare because I have always collected the "so bad it's good" games that nobody else really wants...
Oh and I forgot to mention, I have the following:
- Animal (Microtime 1996, DOS)
- Cybergenic Ranger, a very obscure (and bad) DOS game, original 3,5" floppies with box, manual and a horrendously ugly poster. It is in absolute mint condition (I doubt that anyone ever wanted to play it .
- Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge (GTE 1995, Win 3.1)
Of the titles I mentioned above, boxed versions are: Asimov's Robots (worn out box), Art Gallery (worn out box), Tank Commander (mint), Starlord (mint) and Man Enough (mint). The others are unfortunately only original Jewel cases with the title booklet and manual, and in worst case (Uncle Archibald, Worms United) only the original media.

Re: [OFFER] Various Windows apps and DOS games
Ok, will start dumping now with A120% Will probably upload somewhere next week as scanning the materials will take some time (I don't own a scanner myself) and I also have to figure out someone with a USB floppy to rip Cybergenic Ranger.

Re: [OFFER] Various Windows apps and DOS games
Okay so, I will start with Starlord. It's now uploading to the FTP.
I hope I managed to name everything clearly enough, and that the scans are decent.
Unfortunately the other manual had a really nasty spine, so it was very difficult to align the pages properly orthogonally.
Please let me know if there are problems with the upload and I will do my best to correct (also sorry beforehand if i cause you to waste your time )
Edit: just out of curiosity, the rules say that "check if an upload already exists" - what if the existing upload is incomplete (missing manuals etc.)? Is there a way to know?
Btw, just to let you know, Starlord is 100% complete with everything included (it was sealed when I got it).
I will continue with the other uploads as soon as I know if this one is ok.
Here are the checksums for the files:
I had to rename the extensions to get them to upload, so here they are in the format 7zip created them

Re: [OFFER] Various Windows apps and DOS games
@Mrjipey:
Ok, there are now three games uploaded.
Cyberbykes and Animal were Jewel case only releases, so they are 100% complete as well.
And about the jewel case manuals and covers, my scanner unfortunately does not have adjustable focus, so scanning the actual jewel case results in a blurred scan (cannot focus on the paper if it is 1mm from the glass). This is why i took all the papers out and scanned them separately. I hope it is ok, my reasoning was that it is more important to archive the actual print and its contents than just a view showing that "it's in a jewel case box". Is this ok?
Those three are now completed
Oh and btw, how should I prove that I own these? Is it ok just to take a photo of the boxes and jewel cases piled on my laptop

Re: [OFFER] Various Windows apps and DOS games
That's why you remove the cover from the jewel case and scan only the paper parts... the guide specifically says this as well . So you did exactly what you were supposed to do .
Considering you scanned and uploaded these it should be proof enough, and if there's anything that needs to be adjusted in the scans I can just ask you for rescans, which will be easier if you actually own these titles .
I will check your uploads when I get home.

Re: [OFFER] Various Windows apps and DOS games
The rest is coming as soon as I get some 5,25" floppies ripped with the help of a local preservation group
Also, mrjipey, what can I do with a poster that's way too big to be scanned? Scan in pieces with generous overlapping and proper aligning? That way it would at least be scanned completely and can be stitched later in the future if wished

Re: [OFFER] Various Windows apps and DOS games
Please, it's mrpijey, not mrjipey....
If you can scan it in bits with overlapping (at high quality) then do so and I'll stitch it together myself as best as I can. Be sure to unwrinkle the folds first for best scanning results. Otherwise if you got a very good camera you can snap a pic of it, but scans would be much better.

Re: [OFFER] Various Windows apps and DOS games
Damn, I usually roll eyes *myself* when people misspell names, I really don't know how that slipped past my eyes... I blame the keyboard, it must have interpreted my keystrokes incorrectly, wasn't me! ;D
Good to now that about posters and other material too big for the scanner!

Re: [OFFER] Various Windows apps and DOS games
Ok now uploading The Road Ahead by Gates, as the version in the archive was missing the booklet and sleeve covers. Also IIRC it didn't have the audio tracks of the CD-ROM.
Uploading soon also Microsoft Home Art Gallery but it is a PITA to scan because the box is a bit damaged and it is super hard to keep the scanner surface clean & box surface straight
