(Leak) Windows Longhorn Build 4088 Full

Post by DiskingRound »

Today I went on the BetaArchive FTP and noticed this:
Microsoft Windows Vista (''Longhorn'' 6.0.4088.0) (beta)
Finally we have this! At first we the PE of this, we had screenshots and even a (now private) video, but now we have the build! I'll download it and post screenshots when I get access to a faster connection. I already updated the wiki as well.
Please note that this is a very boring and empty build as said before on this forum.

Wow, I'm curious what's changed! Let us know if you find anything different. I'll download it myself as well to check it out.

Not a lot of differences from last build that I can think of... I believe it's another crap build that is mostly empty and boring and ugh. Just like 4084.

Now the question is, will more builds get leaked? I'm curious to see if any M6 and below get released as those were the most interesting.

Not exactly, you should read the release notes. Or just read it here: http://longhorn.ms/guide/b4088

Yeh, I'm not having a problem with the PE either, and I'm using VMWare Workstation 11.

Offtopic Comment
On build 9901, I cannot use both VMWare and VirtualBox, the former one freezes the system whenever the vm restarts/shuts down, and the latter one cannot run at all.

4015.lab06, 4018, or probably any other mid-M5 build would have interesting stuff.

I'd rather see any M1 longhorn, and maybe 5212
4015.lab06
this will probably never happen

I'd hate to say it, but I'm not expecting 4015.L6 or 4018 to be leaked either. Barely any copies of 4015.L6 floated out of M$, and 4018, let's not go there.
I am, however, having higher expectations towards 4040.L4 and 4042.Main to be leaked as they are about as known now as 4039 was before it was leaked. (screenshots, maybe a little background info thanks to ux.unleaked)
However, 4066 wasn't even on the grounds of being leaked, and I was a bit surprised when it was. Especially when it used i386 instead of wim. But, there's still a chance for the other builds...

When will people get that the fame you recieve for publicly 'leaking' a build is much better than the fame for just showing it around?

Expecting? Well, I'm sure those with the build have taken note and are feverously planning to leak it for you at this very moment.

Most leakers actively try to avoid the fame unless they were sanctioned by a source. The (rather obvious) reason being is no source will ever trust them again if they're publicly attached to leaking against their sources interests.

I know people who are credited with little to no leaks. They've leaked plenty, but they take very little credit. Unsurprisingly, its these people that manage to play the game the longest. Not the one shot wonders who go for the glory.

What I mean is that I have higher expectations towards them being leaked, not the fact that some guy will randomly pop here, in this topic, and say: "Lookie here, I gots me a whole lot of unleaked Longhorn. Here's some Mega:..."
Edited my post to properly reflect what I thought. Maybe I should treat every post like a standardized report...

I would love to see 3663, 3670, 4015.lab06, 5000, or 5001 leak.

well I contacted a guy who had 5212, ~4 years ago
guess what, he never even bother to answer me

so don't bother hoping for such rare builds
-

same goes for 355x range, as neither xBetas nor KenOath have them

These rare builds will leak one day way beyond in the future by an anonymous person.

Do please let me know where you got proof that 3551 even exists.

No one has proof for these builds. These Longhorn 355X buildtags are, IMO, largely just speculation created by a version of a file that jumps around the internet, whether it be in a build of 2K3/LH, or a DLL file downloaded from some DLL download site. I never trust them as it is as of now unknown whether these versions refer to a version of the file itself or an OS version. The earliest LH build that we know of is 3663, and the oldest we can get our hands on (as of now) is 3683.

The files these early strings were taken from most definitely cannot be trusted for build versions - the files exist exactly the same in Server 2003 RTM (and a number of pre-release Server 2003 builds), with the exception that they carry the major and minor as 5.2 rather than 6.0. They're just drivers developed in-house by Microsoft for partner's hardware, and have little relevance to the Windows project itself.

I was, of course, asking him because I knew full well he had no such proof, and that in trying to obtain some, he might be forced to re-evaluate his position.
