'Microsoft Windows non-core edition'
'Microsoft Windows non-core edition'
Recently I got this error while trying to activate build 7955 after the slmgr.vbs -ato command:
"On a computer running Microsoft Windows non-core edition, run 'slui.exe' to display the error text."
What's meant by non-core edition and has this anything to do with the fact I'm running this on a virtualmachine?

Re: 'Microsoft Windows non-core edition'
In case you're activating Windows 8 RTM, this messages says, that the serial that you're typing isn't correct for the version you'll use /Example you're typing key for Pro, but on a Enterprise edition/. In 7955 I don't know, but maybe the same.

Re: 'Microsoft Windows non-core edition'
Non-Core probably means not the Core Edition. SLUI.exe is an Activation Manager of Windows 8.

Re: 'Microsoft Windows non-core edition'
Pwned, the interesting thing is, if you trying activating Pro with Enterprise key, the message is again None-Core.

The point is any non-Core SKU ships with the tool it refers to. It has nothing to do with what you're trying to do - that's not the error message. It's saying to see the error message, you need to run slui.exe - something that's (presumably) not available in the Core SKU.

Re: 'Microsoft Windows non-core edition'
Just a side remark here: it seems like it would be more simple & productive to just simply print out the error message instead of trying to describe to the user where to go look for it. Oh well, I'm sure Microsoft must have a reason behind this design.hounsell wrote:... Re: 'Microsoft Windows non-core edition'
The error message can also be found in for example the Genuine center in win8nathaniel87 wrote:Just a side remark here: it seems like it would be more simple & productive to just simply print out the error message instead of trying to describe to the user where to go look for it. It has to do with activating a beta there is no key, crack or anything else in the thread. Calm down.CabaProductions wrote:Ok, stop making warez posts!!!!!!

@LeoaprM95.
Simple answer, you can't activate this build, since the serial number used is only for installing the build, not for activating it.
And you have to have a current date on it, and that makes this build unusable anyway.
Activating does nothing really more then activate.
It doesn't unlock anything, you have to use the ''Red-Pill Enabler''.

@CabaProductions.
This isn't ''warez'' (by BetaArchive's definition), the topic is about activating an ''beta'' build with the build in executable, no cracks or anything.
Also, if you are unhappy with a post, just use the button instead of shouting on the forum.

Why would you think that posting about final RTM products is against the rules in any way? If you read the rules, it states that the distrobution of 'warez' is against the rules...
Exact Copied and Pasted Wording: You may not post links to resources containing any warez, porn/erotic sites or materials designed to provoke a shocking response. Resources includes (but not limited to) web sites, torrents, kazaa links, FTP servers, DC hubs etc.

Yes I know that by activating you won't unlock anything... I just wanted to activate because I looks nice and proper: 'Windows is activated'. But indeed it's not possible to activate this build anymore.. (keys have been blacklisted)Rob Jansen wrote:@LeoaprM95.

The only option left is some kind of cosmetic patch (like removeWAT or something).
Thanks anyway!
